Fulham Preview (28/09/2020)

Today, Aston Villa are travelling to Craven Cottage to play Fulham. This game will hopefully be an exciting one and I can’t wait to see what squad we put out, and how we approach this game. Before I get into our predictions, how do Villa get on against Fulham?

Fulham have in fact won their last 6 games against Villa! This just shows we never do paticularly well when we come up against the Cottagers, but this is bound to change for Villa sooner rather than later. However, when the two sides have met in the Premier League, Villa are unbeaten in 6 games against Fulham (3W & 3D). This is outstanding for Villa. For Jack and co there may be a lingering thirst to beat them after that dreadful play off final.

In our last meeting at Craven Cottage. It was last year in the FA Cup, and we all know how that went. Villa played dreadfully losing 2-1 in the process. A goal from Knockaert, equaliser from Anwar and then a magnificent strike from Harry Arter won it for the Cottagers. Villa will surely look to rectify that loss and bring an end to our poor performances recently against Fulham.

How do I think Villa will approach this game?

I fully believe that Villa will approach this game positively. Looking to take all 3 points away from Craven Cottage. I think we will attack from the off and we will surprise a few people. I am going for a Villa win. I think we will win 2-0 Ollie Watkins and Super Jacky Grealish with the goals for Villa. I don’t think Scott Parker’s men will be up to the task of Dean Smiths Villa side who are flying high at the moment, with big wins against the likes of Sheffield United and Bristol City which kept our form from the end of last season. Villa are a very solid side defensively now and I feel that we will be able to keep the clean sheet very comfortably. I feel that Harrison Reed will have a quality game for Fulham and make our lives hard and break up the play loads. I also feel we need to watch out for Josh Onomah and Mitrovic as they can make things happen and going forward are the only players that could cause us real problems.

This is Ben Davis' (my own) predicted starting XI:

What is Jake Alberice's prediction for tomorrows game?

Similarly, to me. Jake has gone for a solid 2-0 Villa win. He has got Grealish and Watkins to get the goals very similar to me. He feels that Villa will be fairly comfortable in this game and he feels that we will nick it. Jake feels that Scott Parker’s men aren’t quite up to the job although they have quality in certain areas of the pitch. Most definitely up front as they have Aleksander Mitrovic who can be a threat on his day. However, he feels Mings and Konsa will be up to the job to keep Mitrorvic quiet in this game. Jake also reckons Onomah could be dangerous if given too much space and reckons he is a completely different player to when he was at Villa. He feels it will be an entertaining game.

This is Jake’s predicted starting XI:

What is Dan Craythorne thinking about this game, and what does he predict?

Dan has gone for the same score as me and Jake. He has gone for a 2-0 villa. However who has he out down to score? Well Dan has gone for Watkins and Traore to score the goals for villa. He too expects us to have a solid defensive display, and he expects Ollie Watkins to be clinical. Similar to Jake he expects Mitrovic to be a threat to villa, but expects Mings and Konsa to deal with him accordingly and keep him as quiet as possible. Dan expects this game to be fun and entertaining but for Villa to win comfortably and bring the 3 points back to Villa Park.

How does Dan expect us to line up against Fulham? Here is his predicted starting XI;

In conclusion, we all here at the Villa Vision expect Villa to win comfortably. But have a few nervy moments here and there, we all feel it will be an exciting and entertaining game for us Villa fans to watch and enjoy. Look out for our Fulham Review podcast coming out later today or tomorrow, hope you enjoyed the article.
