Updated: Feb 12, 2018
DATE: 30TH JANUARY 2018 | KICK OFF: 7:45PM | VENUE: BRAMMALL LANE
ASTON VILLA VS. SHEFFIELD UNITED
Aston Villa take the short trip to Sheffield United's Brammall Lane on Tuesday evening. The two sides come into the game with much different preparation periods. Aston Villa's last game was their 3-1 home victory against Barnsley 10 days ago after they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Peterborough. Sheffield United however, have had only 2 days to prepare after their 1-0 victory over Preston North End in the 4th round of the FA Cup.
LEAGUE POSITIONS: Aston Villa: 5th | Sheffield United: 7th
Aston Villa sit 4 points above Sheffield in the table, and sit just 3 points off 2nd placed Derby County. Villa are guaranteed to move to 4th spot by getting any kind of result against Sheffield.
Sheffield could go within 1 point behind Aston Villa if they turn them over Tuesday evening. Both sides have a lot to play for in this one.
Aston Villa are unsure as to the fitness of Gabriel Agbonlahor and Mile Jedinak ahead of the game against Sheffield whilst Jonathan Kodjia remains absent through his long term injury. Richie De Laet has rejoined his hometown club, Royal Antwerp, on loan until the end of the season with Elphick and Tshibola also being loaned out to Reading and Kilmarnock respectively.
Other than that, Villa have a clean bill of health ahead of the trip to Brammall Lane and Steve Bruce will have a lot of positive selection decisions to make. Axel Tuanzebe joined on loan earlier this week from Manchester United and could be set to make his debut.
