Villa seal deal for Axel Tuanzebe!
Axel Tuanzebe became Aston Villa’s first signing of the January window by agreeing a loan move from Manchester United this week.
The 20-year-old will wear the No.28 shirt at Villa Park and becomes Villa’s fourth loan signing of the season following on from Sam Johnstone, Josh Onomah and Robert Snodgrass’ summer arrivals.
He comes into what is already a very solid defensive line. With skipper John Terry, ex-skipper James Chester already seemingly first choice in centre defence, it is still unknown what Steve Bruce's plans are for the youngster. However, a number of Manchester United have leapt in to join the debate and pointed out the youngster can play at full back or in defensive midfield, another position Bruce had reportedly been looking to strengthen.
The signing comes after lots of speculation of the deal not going through due to United manager Mourinho seemingly being reluctant to allow Tuanzebe to leave due to defensive injury problems of his own.
Upon being asked 'Why Villa?'. Tuanzebe replied quite confidently
"It was simple. It was a short conversation. I’m here to help us get promoted. The push for second place is more important than trying to make play-offs. We have a good enough squad, good enough players to go in and get second place."
Tuanzebe is in contention for Villa's trip to Brammal Lane on Tuesday night. You can watch the action on Sky Sports Football at 7:45PM or follow the action live from our twitter feed as we will be doing kick by kick in depth updates.
